Alice And The Red Drum

Tom Waits will release two albums on April 9th next year. The first, "Alice", is described as "dark tunes from an adult fairytale" and includes mostly organic instrumentation: pianos, vibes, cellos and the Stroh violin (a Romanian instrument which combines violin with a horn). "Red Drum", the second album, was inspired by his work with Robert Wilson on the play "Woyzeck", which deals with schizophrenia and murder. Waits compares the album to a recording of a theatre piece with lullabies, tarantellas and waltzes.
