Alanis Morissette speaks out for the little guy

Reported by yewknee

At the Plug.In conference on Tuesday, July 23rd Alanis Morissette spoke out against the major label system, saying that it's just 'not working.' She went on to describe the horrible treatment of artists who fail to meet sales expectations (which is almost all of them), and the conglomerization of the entire industry. She made some excellent points about how Bertelsmann and Napster and MP3.com, Emusic and Vivendi Universal show how the music industry is becoming 'a bottleneck for creativity.' Many more excellent quotes can be found by reading this Billboard article. It's nice to see major artists speaking out in defense of the little guy.
