The Mule Is Back

Gov't Mule will release "The Deep End Vol. 1," the first album since the death of bassist Allen Woody, on October 23rd. Following the 13-track album will be a documentary film and another studio album out spring 2002. Around 25 different bass players collaborated with remaining duo of Warren Haynes and Matt Abts to record the songs for the album. Haynes reported, "when Woody passed away, we were in the middle of preparing for what would be the next Gov't Mule record ... the idea came about that all of our favorite bass players might be too busy to join the band, but maybe they wouldn't be too busy to do one song."
