You've Been Gone 5 Years, Where've You Been?

Liam Howlett of Prodigy recently spoke to Rolling Stone about their forthcoming album, Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned (about which, rumors started around this time last year). Howlett reported, "There are two main differences on this new record. I haven't used my record collection as a source of sounds and samples, and I've tried to bring in other musicians and play a lot of instruments myself." Also, this time around Howlett tried to push the lyrical content far beyond the gradeschool, techno rantings of "Firestarter" and "Breathe", from 97's Fat of the Land. The group plan to release two singles, "Baby's Got a Temper" and "Nuclear", and then their album through UK label, XL, in late 2002. Their stateside label, Maverick, will distribute the same releases shortly after their UK dates. In the end, Howlett offered this to the US fans: "So when we come back to America, we hope people know we're still here. Just wait and see what we're going to do."
