Our Oars Became Wings
Reported by heyrevolver
Mike Watt will be "setting sail" on his "our oars became wings" 2002 tour, playing 61 shows in 62 days. Watt will be out promoting his forthcoming release, the secondman's middle stand, without having recorded a note of it. He commented, "there is just something about putting your songs to the test in a live format. Both of my solo albums were studio first, so it was time to make a return to the old way of doing things." On the tour Watt will not be taking out a guitar player, but instead performing with drums, organ, and bass guitar. The album material is based on Dante's The Divine Comedy (the title of the tour is lifted from the book), with Watt paralleling hell, purgatory, and heaven with his own trio of "fever, healing, and paradise". During the shows on the tour, Watt will perform only first two stages, leaving the finale, "paradise", for the LP release. Seem interesting? I'm sure it will be.
