From the Basement On the Hill Nearing Completion

Reported by heyrevolver

Elliott Smith is currently working hard on his new album, tenatively titled From the Basement on the Hill. Smith's manager Scott Booker recently sent an update to Sweet Adeline, the most comprehensive Smith fansite on the web. In the update Booker commented that 11 tracks are very near completion, most being in "full band" mode, while others lacked vocals. He also added that several of the new tracks premiered at shows last year. Booker and Smith are now in the process of deciding what label will release the new LP, with an September release date in the works. As we've reported, it seems that it was in fact Smith's decision not to release his new album on Dreamworks Records, who eagerly wanted to release the new LP. However, Smith was "not comfortable dealing with the corporate structure right now," so Dreamworks decided to be cool and let him have control.
