DC make AMAMABAS 3

Reported by erun

A Mark, a Mission, a Brand, a Scar is not, contrary to popular belief, the new Olympic slogan, but rather the title to the third album by Dashboard Confessional. AMAMABAS (sounds cool, eh?) is being recorded in a Florida studio with producer Gil Norton (Foo Fighters, Pixies) and is expected to arrive in late spring. You can read all about that Carabba kid in this month's SPIN magazine if you're impatient for that emo pain.

Tokyo @ 1st Unitarian Church

Reported by erun

After two years have gone by, former Dillinger Escape Plan vocalist Dimitri Minikakis has reemerged with Tokyo, who are currently completing demo recordings and will make their live debut April 6 at the First Unitarian Church in Philadelphia... Have you ever heard him sing? Very far removed from the Unitarians, I think.

A listing at accesstimewarner.com that says there will be a new MusicChoice Concert featuring Tori Amos on Time Warner Cable between February 24, 2003 and March 9, 2003. In relation to that vague date, Tori will be on "Live With Regis and Kelly" on Thursday, March 6, 2003 and on CBS Saturday Morning on Saturday, March 8, 2003. Thanks to thedent.com for that information.

Buy Me, Wear Me

Reported by erun

You probably already knew that No Doubt's Gwen Stefani was designing a clothing line called "Lamb", but did you know that Ice-T (and Eminem, and Jay-Z) is also cashing in on this non-music-related endeavor? Ice-T will not be developing a new flavor of Lipton, though he is developing a "classy" line called "Icewear". Word to your tailor.

Mira Mira on the Wall

Reported by erun

Nothing going on with SubPop, nothing with Matador... Wait! Warp Records has something going on! For starters, Boards of Canada's Hi Scores re-issue is up for order (I've told you before, but sometimes you just need reminding...), and Mira Calix had to cancel her recent shows in Istanbul and Ankara (Turkey) due to a work permit issue. Stay tuned for more of "As the Warp Turns."

Write for Tomorrow, Direct for Today

Reported by erun

We should know that System of a Down bassist Shavo Odadjian has directed before (see System's "Toxicity" video), so we should not be suprised that he's doing it again, this time for the next Taproot video and lining up shoots for other, so-far unnamed bands. In an article over at VH1.com, Odadjian also mentioned something about the next album to come from SOAD, saying: "It's definitely a progression for us. It doesn't sound like Toxicity or Steal This Album! or the first album. It has its own life, and I love that because we write for tomorrow, not for today."

War War, What's it For?

Reported by erun

Two of hip-hop's finest, Russell Simmons and Mos Def, are stepping into up to a mic that holds more than just a crowded venue: The Anti-War ad mike in television ads. Both artist's ads appeared yesterday, and from what this article says are fairly creative. The television ads are the latest in a series of anti-war spots sponsored by True Majority, an organization started by Ben & Jerry's ice cream founder Ben Cohen.

Cave In has an Anchor for you

Reported by yewknee

The new video for "Anchor", the first single from the forthcoming March 18th Cave In release Antenna, is available to view on the bands official site. The Dean Karr directed video tells the tale of a guy waking up with two huge concrete slabs on his feet as well as a performance of the band (ask yourself, just how did he get his pants on?). And if that wasn't exciting enough for you, it has been announced that the first batch of Antenna CD's will include a bonus DVD entitled Antennavised. The DVD contains a short documentary based around the band and their tour in England during the Reading Festival 2002 (expect live footage and hand-held footage).

Free Music For You

Reported by simple

We get a lot of CDs in every week here at Silent Uproar. We don't always want to hang on to them all, so we are going to start having quick giveaways on the weekends. This week, the just released Daredevil Soundtrack is up for grabs. The 25th person to email me with their complete address will get this CD mailed to them on Monday. Good Luck. Congrats to Josh Burnett who won the CD. These contests are going to be a regular thing on the weekends, so be sure and check the site next Saturday and Sunday.

Due to certain recent events, it appears that Phil Spector will definitely not be producing the next album by The Vines after all. Gotta Praise, Gotta Duet, Gotta Serve

Reported by erun

Though I was never one for religious conversions (think Cat Stevens) I have to go back with Bob. "Gonna Change My Way of Thinking," a new duet by Bob Dylan and Mavis Staples will be included on Mr. Zimmerman's Gotta Serve Somebody: The Gospel Songs of Bob Dylan. The album will feature songs from Dylan's "Slow Train Coming" and "Saved" covered by gospel artists including the Fairfield Four, Aaron Neville, Shirley Caesar and the Spiritual QCs. You can serve the man by buying the album on March 25th.
