Gin Beam

Reported by erun

The newly reunited Gin Blossoms are working on their first album of new material in seven years. No word on titles or what not, but I can still sing "Hey Jealousy" in Spanish, so that should account for something.

Not So Great White

Reported by erun

In case you haven't heard, 65 people are confirmed dead after a fire broke out during a performance by 80's band Great White at the Station club in West Warwick, Rhode Island, late last night. Pyrotechnic sparklers set the blaze by igniting the club's eleven-feet-tall ceiling. Note: use fire displays in arenas, not little venues.

Don't strain your brain

Reported by heyrevolver

Not to be outdone by our illustrious (hah!) Grammy awards, the folks in Jolly Old England held their Brit Awards last night. Big winners included Coldplay and Eminem, who both won two awards. The big highlight (if you want to call it that) of the evening, however, was said to be Justin Timberlake and Kylie Minogue doing a duet of Blondie's "Rapture". Anyway, click "more" for the full list of winners.

Live Seeds

Reported by ben

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds have announced details of a mini European jaunt slated for late May, early June. I know most of our readers call North America home and Europe may seem a little far to travel for just a concert, but in case anyone realizes that seeing Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds isn't just any concert, I thought I'd bring these dates to your attention anyway. These may be the only live dates the Bad Seeds play in support of Nocturama (you know, the very deserving 'Featured Release of the February'). However, for those of you who will not be able to make it across the pond this summer, there is a chance that there will be a handful of Bad Seeds dates showing up later in June (though this is just rumor at this point, so keep checking back here for confirmation).

Band leader Zac DeCamp promises these will be the first of many mp3's posted on the band's official site. Check it out. Make sure you still buy their CD's though because, trust me, you will want the album artwork.

Great title, dickwad

Reported by ben

The kings of cool, Limp Bizkit, just posted an mp3 on their official site of one of the tracks on their forthcoming album. It's called "Just Drop Dead" and if you want a laugh, and though I haven't listened to it myself, I'm confident that is what it will be, check it out. The band also announced recently that they are changing the title of their new album from Lessismore to Bipolar... Fred Durst is resembling Vanilla Ice more every day.

Profuse Mention of Drugs = Not Grunge

Reported by erun

Does anyone remember the deal about Courtney Love cashing in and getting out of her Geffen record deal? Does anyone really care? NME does, of course, and they've got the "de-grunged" preview of Courtney's new songs. Song titles include "Pills" and "All the Drugs in the World" and include lyrics like "I can't find a vein." Oh so not grunge, lemme tell ya. Click on that NME and read more if you are as grossly intrigued as I was.

The Empire of Dirt + Trent's Whereabouts

Reported by erun

Have you seen the Johnny Cash (the original alt-crossover, the original man in black- recognize, fools!) video for his cover of Nine Inch Nails' "Hurt"? Go see it! It's really disturbing and eerie and cool. You can read more about how director Mark Romaneck (Fiona Apple, Madonna) came up with the video here at RollingStone.com. But why else is this important? This is what NIN's main man Trent Reznor had to say about the cover/video: "We were in the studio, getting ready to work -- and I popped it in. By the end I was really on the verge of tears. I'm working with Zack de la Rocha, and I told him to take a look. At the end of it, there was just dead silence." That's called two birds in one stone, eh?

Reported by heyrevolver

According to the NME, Blur have settled on the name Think Tank for their upcoming album, which is due on May 6th. Despite previous rumors, the one-off, white label single, "Don't Bomb If You're The Bomb", did not make the album. Want to know what did make the album?

How do you stop an Elephant from charging?

Reported by heyrevolver

So, what do 50 Cent and The White Stripes have in common? Until recently, not a whole hell of a lot, but thanks to the wonders of the internet, they now share a common bond -- bootlegging. Just like 50's recent album was pushed up to dissuade bootleggers, so too is the latest from the Stripes. Originally scheduled for an April 8th release date, Elephant will now hit stores on April 1st. In the meantime, click "more" for a tracklist and do with it what you please...
