Chant the Peaceful Om

Reported by erun

As you know, the Beastie Boys have written and recorded a protest song against war in Iraq called "In A World Gone Mad". Have you heard it? Remember Neil Young's "Ohio" protest song? Catchy as all get out and good? This one would be the opposite of that, but that's just my opinion. You can download it here and read the lyrics here. Read more about the Beastie's stance on their website aqui, and don't worry- I still love the Beasties... Just not this song.

Alien Ant Pilots

Reported by simple

Alien Ant Farm is currently in the studio working on an album to be produced by Dean and Robert DeLeo, also known as the guitarist and bassist (and co-writers) for Stone Temple Pilots. This will mark the duos first production effort and the band had this to say about the whole thing, "We had a couple meetings with what you’d call ‘big’ producers, but we thought it would be cool and definitely different to work with Dean and Robert, and when we met with them, we all just felt it was right.” The band is currently in pre-production with the DeLeo brothers and will formally begin recording in late March.

More Anti-War Protest from Britan

Reported by erun

A female marine, separated from her son. An outspoken anti-war Brit separated from... reality? Maybe, maybe not. (You sign up for it (armed services), now you go (war). Don't provoke me and my sympathy.). But the truly sincere video for Blur's first single "Out Of Time" from the upcoming Think Tank is a clip shot from a documentary on a US Navy warship on duty in the Gulf, and it will be out March 14th. Oh, and by the way- my post = my view = my opinion, not SilentUproar's, capish?

About 26.1 Miles Short of a Real Marathon

Reported by heyrevolver

Dates have been announced for this year's CMJ Music Marathon, which is really just a buttload of shows disguised as a "college music industry conference". The big bash is being held from October 22nd-25th in New York City. Performers haven't been announced yet but, as with every year, there should be tons of bands to check out, assuming you (or your college radio station) can afford the entry fee. And if you're in a band, it may behoove you to play the conference as well, since there are tons of music industry types attending. More details are at the CMJ website.

Bjork's Got A Secret. Kinda.

Reported by heyrevolver

The one and only Bjork has announced tour dates for the first leg of her summer tour. They're all in Europe, so unless you live over there or you're the type of person that can afford to fly overseas for a concert, you're SOL thus far. Fear not, however, because a second leg of dates is promised in the States, including "an outdoor concert can be expected @ a very special location in the NY area". You know where to click for those Euro dates.
