Sumday My Prince Will Come

Reported by heyrevolver

As previously reported, the new Grandaddy album still seems to bear the name Sumday, so we can probably expect to call it that. Next, according to several sources, the set will drop on June 10th preceded by a single, "Now It's On," released to radio on May 27th. Also, according to Playlouder, the album will only be a single disc, despite previous reports that it would surface as a double-disc (the downfall of many great bands). So, good choice mein Grossvater. And, just so you'll believe us, here is the official tracklisting for Sumday...

Clever name

Reported by ben

You maybe vaguely familiar with the fact that System Of A Down lead singer Serj Tankian is collaborating with Arto Tuncboyaciyan (a "multi-instrumentalist avant-garde folk artist" from Turkey) on a project called Serart. Now you can listen to a not quite final mix of the entire debut album, which comes out on May 6. Check it out.

Reported by heyrevolver

The "best band in the world", Radiohead, have finally announced that string of UK shows in May they've been hinting at. Of course, since the email was sent out on Saturday, and it's now Monday, all the shows are sold out except one. So, if you live in the Belfast area, be sure to head over to w.a.s.t.e. and order tickets quickly. Here are those dates, assuming you can find a way to sneak in or steal a ticket...

Better Than The Shortwave

Reported by heyrevolver

Tomorrow, Longwave will release their debut album, The Strangest Things. If you'd like some persuasion to buy or not to buy their record, read our review of the album, listen to a Windows Media stream of "Tidal Wave" from the album, and, if that doesn't seem to be enough, harness the Real Audio stream of the entire album over at MTV2.com. That should be enough.

Fiber-Optic Flaming Lips

Reported by erun

I only back-searched for the new Flaming Lips EP, so ignore (or re-hash) anything you've read before... The Flaming Lips new EP features a cover (Kylie Minogue- Wow, huh?) or two and some remixes, but, most importantly, the 7-song Fight Test EP has two brand new songs - "The Strange Design of Conscience" and "Thank You Jack White (for the Fiber-Optic Jesus That You Gave Me)". You can own it on April 22nd. A non-musical addition to the EP will be the theatrical trailer to Christmas on Mars, the Lips in-progress science-fiction feature film. Read more at RollingStone.com.

Andrew Blows His Bone

Reported by heyrevolver

As previously reported, Andrew W.K. was to start recording his follow-up to I Get Wet sometime during December last year. Well, it seems the party-till-you-puke maniac has completed 25 tracks and is currently shifting through ideas for an official track list. WK has already thought up a title for the album, it will be, get this, Blow Your Bone. Some people weren't too fond of the idea, and to that Andrew had this to say: "It was supposed to be about taking a bone — like a chicken bone that a dog would want to chew on — and blowing it up with dynamite. People read into that in a weird way. Some stores said they wanted to carry the next record but didn't want that title, to the point where we were forced to change the name." Gee, I wonder why? Anyways, Andrew W.K. insists that the new material "will blow the other album out of the water." Hmm, a lot of blowing going on it seems. Out of the 25, these six seem to be the sure shots: "Violent Life", "Never Ending Party", "Close Calls With Brick Walls", "Kicks and Bricks", "Addicted to Life" and "I Am Totally Stupid."

That's It, I'm Throwing Away My Spell-Check

Reported by heyrevolver

System of a Down frontman Serj Tankian has teamed up with avant-garde folkie Arto Tuncboyaciyan for a side-project dubbed Serat. Their album will be the first release on Serj's newly formed Serjucal Strike Records. The collab should be interesting, given Serj's vocal prowess and Arto's unique instrumentation -- which, according to NME, includes "a doll Tankian picked up in Japan that makes a "wah-wah" sound, Tuncboyaciyan running his hands through a pot of water and making a noise with his trouser pockets that sounds like bird wings." Look for an interview conducted with Serj about the project on SilentUproar very soon.

Pop Will Eat Itself

Reported by heyrevolver

In commemoration of Sub Pop's 15th anniversary, the label will release a two-disc compilation of "greatest hits and rarities" entitled Terminal Sales -- Sub Pop Records 1988-2003: Celebrating 10 Years of Great Records (if they're celebrating 15 years, why call the comp "10 years of great recordings"? kinda puzzling). A formal tracklisting hasn't yet been announced, but artists on the comp include Nirvana (duh), Sonic Youth, Soundgarden, Sebadoh, Sunny Day Real Estate, The White Stripes, Iron & Wine, Hot Hot Heat, Bright Eyes, Ween, and many more. Look for the compilation in fine music-selling establishments starting June 6th.

In a recent interview with Australia's Triple J Radio, Kraftwerk's Ralf Hutter announced that the pioneering electronic band has been working on a new album and that it is "99% complete". He also said that they've been working on remastering some of Kraftwerk's earliest albums (we're talking late 60's and early 70's here). No word on release dates for any of this stuff, but it's good news nonetheless.

According to NME.com, the next album from Ash will be "a lot more experimental" and "dark," like the sounds in their short film, Love and Destruction. Singer/guitarist Tim Wheeler has been writing all the music electronically on his home computer. Isn't that nice.
