Bela Fleck and the Flecktones will release a three-CD studio set, Little Worlds, on August 12th. The album will feature guest appearances by Branford Marsalis, Bobby McFerrin and Derek Trucks (Allman Brothers), so it surely will be happy and guitar-y.
Spike Jonze-directed videos for Fatboy Slim, the Beastie Boys and Weezer will be included in a volume of The Directors Label, a DVD series that will debut on August 26th, and no word on if it will continue with another director's set, but that's the gist of it right now.
Kraftwerk will release Tour de France, their first album of new material in seventeen years, on July 22nd. Remember, these are the seminal techno people, so do your homework on your Daft Punks, et. al, by listening to some Kraftwerk.
Daron Malakian, guitarist of System of a Down, is diving into the writing process for System of a Down's next album with extra urgency, according to this bit on RollingStone.com. Malakian's grandmother, uncles and other extended family live in Iraq. "When America bombed Iraq, it was real tough for me," he says. "It brought out a lot of material -- not necessarily political, but emotional material." Malakian recently launched his EatUrMusic label with the signing of avant metal band Amen.
FYI: Keyboardist Kevin Lovejoy has departed from Spoon. The band still plans to launch an eleven-date tour on July 7th in Lawrence, Kansas.
Prefuse 73 is a busy dude: He will perform three shows in Australia this July and August with Eastern Developments DJ Ryan Rasheed. Check the more for both international and Austrailia dates.

According to England's XFM Radio, Zwan have cancelled all remaining dates on their world tour, including a number of high-profile festival dates, "for family reasons." No word yet from the official Zwan website or the band's LiveJournal. Given the band members' volatile past, one hopes these cancellations are merely that. For info on the cancelled shows...
Accordng to the band, Finch have now dropped off this years Warped Tour, opting instead to work on their new album. The album is being produced by Mark Trombino with an expected release through the newly retooled Drive-Thru/Geffen Records (MCA is dead in case you didn't know) label eary next year.

It has been revealed that the new Dashboard Confessional album, A Mark, a Mission, a Brand, a Scar, will be released on August 12th. We're all real excited for this one.
Brand New recently shot a video for their first single from Deja Extendu entitled "The Quiet Things That Know One Ever Knows". The video was shot in Portsmouth, NH and includes a "super-creepy abandoned hospital, a beautiful young lady, a pickup truck, an ambulance and a police car", the video should be posted on the bands official website in the coming weeks. However, you can now check out photos taken during the video shoot.
Hey Mercedes recently reported their will be a huge update concerning their new album, Loses Control, including track listing, tour information, contests and much more. In other news, the band recently shot a six-minute video clip of the band engaging in various hijinks for an MTV2 contest. In a few weeks, fans will be able to vote for their favorite video clip over at MTV2.com.
Modest Mouse are headed out on tour in July with the Radar Brothers in tow. A new album is in the works with Dennis Herring (Sparklehorse) producing.
Knob-twisters The Chemical Brothers have announced a 2-CD "Best Of" set entitled The Singles 1993-03, tenatively scheduled for a September release. The first disc will contain all the "classic" Chemical Brothers songs as well as 2 new, unreleased tracks (including their collaborative effort with The Flaming Lips). The second disc is set to be a lineup of fan favorites, which you can submit to by going here. Also look for a DVD of their videos sometime in the future as well as a new album in 2004.
The Austin City Limits Music Festival announced it's lineup for this year's festival taking place September 19th - 21st. A few highlights from the massive list include REM, Liz Phair, Ween, The Shins, Beth Orton, Dandy Warhols, Ben Kweller, Polyphonic Spree, Spoon, Yo La Tengo, and The Beta Band (among many many others). Korn will have their brand new song "Did My Time" featured in the upcoming Lara Croft sequel Cradle Of Life - but don't look for it on the soundtrack, you'll have to wait for the next Korn record (which, supposedly, comes out at the end of the year). There will be a video for the song, shot by Dave Meyers, and you can bet your sweet ass it'll be on the file-sharing networks. Fieldy says "It's headbanging." I mean, what else do you need to know?
