Matt Sharp versus The Country Boy

Reported by yewknee

Emerging from Leipers Fork, TN (what?!) Matt Sharp (you know, that guy that was in Weezer when they were good) has released his first pure solo EP entitled Puckett's Versus The Country Boy. You can pick it up at CD Baby, but don't expect the moog sounds of The Rentals or the power pop of Weezer - this is alot more stripped down.

Our Lady Peace Actually Inspired By St. Anger

Reported by heyrevolver

Our Lady Peace have already completed pre-production on twelve songs for the follow-up to 2002's Gravity with producer Bob Rock in his Maui studio. Following in the footsteps of the new dungheap of a Metallica album, St. Anger, OLP have opted for the live recording method, with no digital enhancements (ala ProTools or overdubs). Also, according to a recent Rolling Stone article, the band is reportedly writing songs in "like five minutes." Like... wow. So, I guess we can all expect this album to be worse than Gravity and St. Anger, which will take some effort on their part. Well, just in case you wanted to relive the old days for a couple months, OLP have a live album out now. Enjoy it while you can.
