Superdrag have all but officially announced their participation in the NEMO Showcase in Boston, MA during the first weekend in September. The real significance of this is that Clear Channel will try out their new idea of soundboarding the show and having it available for purchase on CD-R at the end of the show as fans leave the show. Sorry bootleggers! Also appearing at the show are SU favorites Paranoid Social Club, who feature ex-members of Rustic Overtones. For the full list of bands, check out the NEMO website.

Paz Leaves Zwan

Taken from her official website, Paz Lenchantin has issued the following statement: "I want to let you know that I am no longer with Zwan. My experience with Zwan has been great but it is time for me to move on to new projects. This Fall I will be dedicating my time with David Pajo as Papa M. Do Your Street Time

?uestlove of The Roots has signed on to be involved with the soundtrack for Street Time, a hard-edged drama that takes a realistic look at the Federal parole system. Fellow Roots member Black Thought is also set to appear on the series, but his role will be to play a troubled parolee. The series premieres on August 6th on Showtime, but check the website for more details.

Said The Shotgun To The Head

Saul Williams is set to return to the commerical world, but instead of musician he will reassume the role of poet. His new book, ,said the shotgun to the head, "is an epic poem in the voice of a mumbling homeless man, a sort of modern age John The Baptist, who tells of the coming of a female messiah that he has known intimately." Zack De La Rocha has called the poem "an invitation to live and die in the moment, a confrontation of the politics of empire, a dare to transform oneself in the face of fear and a post 9-11 love song all in one." The book is set for a September 2nd release date through MTV Books.

Velvet Covers Old Pilots

If you go here you can check out a video of Velvet Revolver performing the Stone Temple Pilots' song "Sex Type Thing" at the El Rey Theatre in Hollywood. The band is expected to release a live EP and DVD of that show on October 13th, and then a full-length album should drop in early 2004.

Car Pain Req

Req will release his second album, Car Paint Scheme- the follow up to the "understated masterpiece" Sketchbook, on Warp on August 25th. Car Paint Scheme was actually scheduled for release on the skint label nearly three years ago, and you might have heard three of the tracks appeared on the Daily Beats series of 12"s. But now Req is on Warp, so yippee!

Probot Gets A Release Date

According to Kerrang! and a recent interview with Time Magazine, Dave Grohl has revealed that the release date for his long awaited metal side project Probot will be this November. He had this to say: "It's not a platinum seller, it's not going to change the world. It's just my tribute to all those guys I worshipped when I was 16."

In other news, the band will send the song "Big Brat" radio on October 21st, and their new album is expected out sometime in January 2004.

Feeler - not Feeder

As you know, according to a post in the Toadies forum's by drummer Mark Rez, it seems that the lost album Feeler may see the light of day at some point. Interscope has supposedly given the permission to Aezra Records to release the disc - so now they band just has to mix, master, and make artwork for and a release date will be decided. We'll let you know.

Thursday have selected the track "Signals Over The Air" as the first single from their new album, War All The Time, due out September 16th. Director Joakim Ahlund (Refused, The (International) Noise Conspiracy) will sit at the helm of the video shoot for the song. In other news, the band is now compiling a "short film" (aka "music video") for the song. It's said to "incorporate live footage as well as segments shot especially for the video and has a very 'documentary' feel". Very artsy-fartsy.

It's A High Price To Pay

Pinebender will release The High Price of Living Too Long With a Single Dream tomorrow via Lovitt Records. The album is said to be packed full of "hook-filled amplifier worship and strong-armed drumming at about 50 beats per minute." The band is also expected to announce tour dates in support of the album shortly.

After several installments of studio journals, Travis have finally announced that they will release their new album, titled 12 Memories (which, I'd assume, features 12 new songs), in October. The first single, "Re-Offender" will hit US radio on September 29th. Who's ready for another album from my favorite non-Radiohead, UK band?
