Red Hot Chili Peppers go nuts in studio

According to a post from Flea on the Red Hot Chili Peppers site the band has recorded 15 new songs while in the studio to do a few tracks for their upcoming greatest hits release. "It is the fastest we have ever recorded so much material. I can't wait for ya'll to hear it," he said. What happens to these new songs? Who knows, but don't expect them to sit on a shelf for too long.

According to XFM.com, it seems The Strokes have selected the track "12:51" as the first single from their as-of-yet untitled follow-up to Is This It. Like we said before, the single will still drop the first week of October, with the album following on October 21st.

Something To Fill The Parentheses Perhaps

According their official fansite, Sigur Ros have already started work on their follow-up to ( ). Some sources seem to believe that the band are aiming to make a "more accesible" album, but that doesn't seem quite right. Regardless, three songs, "Gong", "Mílanó" and "Salka", are expected to appear on the new album. You can download live versions of these tracks over at the aforementioned website.

Paz Lenchantin made a surprise appearance with her former A Perfect Circle bandmates during the group's headlining gig in Chicago August 10. She played violin during her brief appearance. FYI: She has also quit Zwan, and is starting yet another band with yet another batch of musicians. Anything's better than Billy, right? Anyway, APC are playing overseas, and I'm going to post the dates because (nyah-hah!) I get to see 'em in Wembly. ROCK. ON.

Scott Weiland Escape's Again

Scott Weiland, who needs no introduction, has been sentenced to three years probation after being arrested in May for possession of heroin and cocaine. Weiland's new band Velvet Revolver, who also need no intro, have plans to record their debut album in early Fall and have it released in February 2004.

Turquoise, Crimson - they're not the same

Jon Crosby, better known as VAST, has released the next installment of his work-in-progress Version 3.x. This time around it's the Crimson edition, as opposed to the Turquoise. The $2.99 price tag gets you "10 unique tracks that combined with Turquoise represents the 20 tracks that went into the making of the new VAST album." The final version of the record will be available in stores at some point with even newer material, so even if you buy both sets of demo's you aren't getting gipped.
