After eleven years together and numerous top- ten singles, Big Sugar are calling it quits. The band is currently supporting their Hit and Run - Greatest Hits album and after that singer/songwriter Gordie Johnson will embark on a solo career. The Damnwells are still touring to promote their new album, Bastard of the Beat. They are supporting Cheap Trick on some dates and then heading off to smaller venues, culminating with an in-store at the legendary Vintage Vinyl in Fords, NJ.

On November 3, friends, fans, and collegaues of the late Elliott Smith will perform a memorial service/concert at the Henry Fonda Theater in Los Angeles. Conor Oberst (of Bright Eyes), Grandaddy, and Beth Orton are among the acts to perform some of Smith’s songs. Tickets are only $20 and can be purchased through Ticketweb.
The Misfits are heading out on a two-week North American Tour starting today. The current lineup includes only orginal member Jerry Only on bass, Dez Cadena (of Black Flag) on guitar, and drummer Marky Ramone (of The Ramones…duh). Oh well, it is still better than nothing. Click more for the dates.

The aptly named Something Corporate, whose headlining tour in support of their brand new album North was due to start tonight in San Diego, CA, have been forced to postpone tonight's show at SOMA due to the wildfires that are currently ravaging communities across Southern California. The date has been rescheduled for December 18th. Tickets purchased for the October 28th date at SOMA will be honored on December 18th.

Recently released from Off Records is Wig In a Box: Songs From Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Proceeds from the sale of this compilation will benefit the Harvey Milk School, a New York City public high school for gay and lesbian students. The new single from The Offspring, "Hit That", will hit the airwaves this week. The song is the first single from their seventh studio album, Splinter (although originally to be titled Chinese Democracy), will be released on December 9th.
As previously reported, The Strokes will begin their residency next month on the Late Night with Conan O'Brien, performing every Tuesday night throughout November. The Strokes follow in the footsteps of the White Stripes, who appeared on the Late Night show every Tuesday back in April of this year.
The ever-evolving Medeski, Martin & Wood have announced a somewhat-lengthy Fall tour running through the beginning of December.
