The Pixies have secretly released a brand new song. Entitled "Bam Thwock", the song is exclusively available through the Apple iTunes store. Very much worth the $0.99 charge.

The remaining members of INXS have entered into a deal with reality TV guru Mark Burnett to do a show called Rock Star. In the show, competitors will be vying for the part of new lead singer for the 80s Aussie supergroup. Original lead singer Michael Hutchence died in 1997.

There are two new Spoon demo's on their website available for download. "I Summon You" and "Sister Jack" are expected to appear on the band's forthcoming LP.

Moby, in a bold and daring career move, will serve as King Neptune at New York City's Mermaid Parade set for June 26th at Coney Island. No word on if he'll DJ or do anything remotely musical, but I just thought you'd like to know.

Liam and Noel Gallagher of Oasis have stopped sparring long enough to make guest appearances on a Prodigy track entitled "Shoot Down," featured on the band's upcoming album, Always Outnumbered (What about the outgunned part we told you about before? Maybe a RS glitch), scheduled for release on August 16th.

Northern State will release their second album, All City, on August 17th. The set features Cypress Hill's DJ Muggs and the Roots' ?uestlove as guests.

Ben Lee has partnered with Steve Aoki (Dim Mak) to put out releases through his own Ten Fingers Records, the first being a split Ben Lee/Pony Up 7" single, available August. Ben Lee covers the Modest Mouse tune "Float On" and Pony Up offer their track "Heard You Got Action".

Tweaker has announced a summer tour in support of his latest album, 2am Wake Up Call. Tweaker is Chris Vrenna (formerly of NIN), and the new album centers around his wife's prolonged bout with insomnia, during which she would wake up every night at 2am. Weird. Check those dates below:

Will Ferrell is a back this summer with a new comedy, Anchorman - Legend of Ron Burgundy. The movie will be in theaters July 11th but you can catch the ‘70s songs filled soundtrack compilation in stores on June 29th. Beep Beep will release their debut full-length, Business Casual, on August 24th through Saddle Creek records. Beep Beep consists of Eric Bemberger, Chris Hughes, Joel Petersen (The Faint), and Mike Sweeney. More to come, including a full US tour with The Faint.

Bjork has announced that her next record will be entitled Medulla (noun) m&-'d&-l& (plural: medullas or medullae) the inner or deep part of an animal or plant structure). She is aiming for an August release with artwork by M/M and Inez/Vinoodh (whom she has worked with before).

According to this Rolling Stone article it appears that Beulah will be going their seperate ways after their show in New York's Battery Park on August 5th. Check the bands website for info on where you can catch them one last time before it's over.

The amazing live music tradition Austin City Limits is throwing their 3rd annual festival September 17-19 in Austin with over 130 performers from all genres of music. The list of acts is mindblowing, including everyone from Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio and Medeski Martin & Wood to the Beta Band and the Pixies. The Roots, Wilco, Gomez, and a whole slew of other acts were also just announced. Check out the website for the full outstanding listing.

Comedian/actor Dave Chappelle is apparently in talks to play singer Rick James in a film based on James' autobiography Memoirs of a Super Freak. It's a move that seems totally fitting in the wake of his skit on Chappelle's Show. I guess sometimes art can actually imitate art.
