Rhino Records is releasing Left of the Dial: Dispatches from the '80s Underground on October 5th. It's four discs chock full of great bands like the Replacements, Minor Threat, Husker Du, the Jam, the Smiths, R.E.M. and Sonic Youth. International superstars The Strokes are going to be back in the studio for their third album. Manager Ryan Gentles assures fans that they will once again be working with producer Gordon Raphael. The band will be recording everything they do over the next year or so and then pick the best for the album, which should be out in late 2005. Expect lots more booze and a lot more cover stories on Teen People.

A collection of really weird videos is about to be released on DVD by Warp Records. Apple officially reached the 100 million mark of songs downloaded today. Kevin Britten of Hays, Kansas bought the 100 millionth song and won a 17-inch PowerBook, a 40GB iPod and a gift certificate for 10,000 iTunes songs. No doubt his first free download will be "Some Guys Have All the Luck."
On July 17th at the Avalon in Hollywood there will be another Axis of Justice Concert featuring: Jurassic 5, Pete Yorn, Serj Tankian (of System of a Down), The Nightwatchman (Tom Morello and Brad Wilk of Audioslave), Ray Witter and special guests. Rock Through Time, a two-day concert on Sept 17-18 sponsored by Miller Brewing Company, will feature performances by The Strokes, Velvet Revolver, Ben Folds, Lenny Kravitz, James Brown and others.
