Marianne Faithfull’s new album, Before the Poison, has been set for release January 2005. At the heart of the album are the contributions by PJ Harvey and Nick Cave, in addition to a song by Damon Albarn (blur). The details on the tracks are below.

Are You Getting Curiosa?

The Cure has partnered with Amnesty International Music for Human Rights to adopt an Amnesty International prisoner of conscience, Dr. Yury Bandazhevsky. Through the Curiosa Festival, The Cure will join Amnesty International in their fight to get him freed by providing information as well as a petition to sign. A Curiousa Festival package is up for auction for each date of the tour, including guest passes, "meet-n-greet" passes and signed copies of the new Cure CD.

Faithless is now set to release their new album No Roots in the US through J Records. The band is truly an amazing music collective (as their awards over the years have proved) and their new album is no different. She Loves Covers

Greg Dulli and his band The Twighlight Singers are set to release an album of covers this August entitled She Loves You. They will cover old standards as well as such contemporary (not to mention diverse) acts as Bjork and Mary J. Blige. See the complete tracklisting and check them out online.

Ooooo, I'm Dyin!

Former Stone Roses frontman Ian Brown performed an entire set of the classic Madchester band's songs in Surry, England this weekend backed by the tribute band Fools Gold. Though fans are starving for a reunion (ok, this one anyway) no plans are in the works at the moment. Guess we'll have to make do with Ian's solo efforts and playing The Roses' debut over and over and over.

Verved-Up Music

The UK's The Music got some pretty nifty help on their new single "Freedom Fighters" in the form of ex-Verve guitarist Nick McCabe. The Music's sophomore album, Welcome To The North, will hit US shores Oct. 19th.

John Vanderslice has posted the MGM Endings album online in it's entirety for fans to download (along with a hi-res version of the cover) at his official site. So if you missed out on the limited edition remixes of Cellar Door you can check them out now.

Bumbershoot '04

Every Labor Day weekend, Seattle, WA hosts the Bumbershoot Festival. This year's lineup for the four-day event includes Death Cab For Cutie, Robyn Hitchcock, Liz Phair, Public Enemy, The Beta Band, The Walkmen, The Killers, The Pixies and more. Looks like something tasty for everyone!

So we told you that Megaforce Records planned to release the final God Lives Underwater record, Up Off The Floor, this summer.. but that didn't happen. Now the label is saying that it will be released September 28th and you can preorder the album on their site.

The Presidents of the United States of America are hosting a huge fly away contest on their site in support of their new album, Love Everybody. The disc hits streets on August 17th and the band will also headline Bumbershoot on September 3th, marking their first appearance at the renowned Seattle festival since they packed 20,000-plus fans into Memorial Stadium in 1996.

A spectacle on tv

On Tuesday, July 27th The Polyphonic Spree will appear on The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn. If the entire band is somehow tucked into that tiny stage it will be quite the spectacle to see.
