Voodoo Music Fest ’04 is Hot!

The lineup for the Voodoo Music Fest ’04 has been announced. The festival will take place the weekend of October 16-17th, and acts include the Pixies, Beastie Boys, Sonic Youth, Green Day, Snow Patrol, The Killers, Cypress Hill, A Tribe Called Quest, Velvet Revolver, De La Soul, Metric, and more. Tickets go on sale the first weekend of August, and you can get more info here.

MTV still shows music? Who knew?

Apparently MTV still shows music from time to time, and are attempting to regain that "Music" part of their name with the show "Download and Discover." Akon, The Secret Machines, and Ambulance LTD will be performing two songs in their Times Square Studio and then their performances made available for download at mtv.com. Check here for air dates.

LA’s trash rockers, the Vacation have finished their debut album The Band From World War Zero," and it will be out in the UK on September 27th and in the US in spring 2005. The band recorded the album with producer Tony Hoffer (Beck, Supergrass, The Thrills) and created this nifty E-card.

REM’s new single is called "Leaving New York," and said track will be released on September 27, with the as-yet untitled album following on October 4. Other songs on the upcoming album include "Wanderlust", "Make It All Ok" and "I'm Gonna DJ." Die-hard fans will be happy to know that Mikey Stipe & Co. have confirmed a world tour in support of the record, likely to kick off in the US in the late autumn.

The ZZ Queens

Queens Of The Stone Age were joined in the studio last week by ZZ Top guitarist Billy F. Gibbons, who contributed some lead guitar work for the band's next album. Drummer Joey Castillo, multi-instrumentalist Troy Van Leeuwen and Desert Sessions collaborator Alain Johannes have been recruited to record the new album with Josh Homme.
