The film Dig!, released by Palm Pictures, is a rockumentary following the lives of The Brian Jonestown Massacre and The Dandy Warhols. This is more than just a movie about the bands, it shows the friendship turned rivalry between Anton Newcombe and Courtney Taylor-Taylor, touches on the destruction of friendships, major labels versus indies, and everything in between. Already confirmed to perform at Farm Aid in Seattle, WA on 9/18, Tegan & Sara have been announced on the bill for this year's 18th annual Bridge School Benefit on 10/23 & 10/24. The Canadian sisters will release their third full-length, So Jealous, on Sept. 14th and fans can currently stream the full Tegan & Sara album and watch an exclusive live performance on VH1.com. Tegan & Sara will hit the road extensively in the U.S., with more dates to be announced shortly.
The Used have announced their first fall headlining dates with openers on various dates including Head Automatica, Atreyu, The Bronx, and The Bled. Specific openers will be announced when they are confirmed. In Love And Death, the new album from The Used, hits stores on Sept. 28th.

As if they didn't have enough hype, new superstars Franz Ferdinand recently won the Mercury Prize, an honor bestowed upon an album by judges from the British music press. The boys beat out the likes of Belle & Sebastian and Keane. See here for more of the winners.
My favorite (and only) punk Christian band, Mxpx, have signed to Side One Dummy Records, and will be releasing their upteenth album on the label later next year. Also look for a DVD called B-Side that will serve as a documentary of the band's life on the road. The DVD package will also include an exclusive EP.
One of the best bands ever (no joke), Metric, are back on tour and after they play Seattle's Endfest with the bigwigs, aka the Pixies, Sonic Youth, Velvet Revolver (bwahahaha). I'll bet you ten bucks they won't touch Connecticut with a ten foot pole. Oh look, I won. Check them out...
The Queers wanted to reissue one of their old albums, but couldn't get the rights, so they said screw it, let's just rerecord it. A version of Summer Hits No. 1 will be out soon, recorded by the band's current lineup.
Sub Pop's Rogue Wave is a band worth checking out and will probably be the "next big thing". See them on tour before MTV features them as an "Advance Warning" or they have a guest stint on The O.C. Here are the dates.
Since we ragged on the label when we got news about the new ...Trail of Dead album being pushed back, we owe it to them to pass on this info they gave us. The band's forthcoming new album is titled Worlds Apart and the new release date is January 25th. A commercial single for the song "Worlds Apart" will be out on October 12th - both cd and colored 7" vinyl versions will include the Genesis cover "Back in New York City". Check out those tour dates too.
The Militia Group just released a new DVD featuring videos, interviews, director commentaries, punk rock pads, and more from bands including Thursday, Copeland, Eighteen Visions, and Armor For Sleep (see the full list of bands below). The DVD is titled Homesick - Vol. 1 and is available everywhere.

As you already knew, Saul Williams is set to drop his self-titled, sophmore effort on the music world, via The Fader, on September 21st. What you might not know is the album features performances and/or aid from Serj Tankian of System of a Down, Zack de la Rocha, and Ikey Owens from The Mars Volta. As well, Insound.com has made available an MP3 download of the first single, "List Of Demands (Reparations)." Definitely nab that song and then check out it's position in the tracklist...
R.E.M. are set to present their fifteenth studio album, Around The Sun on October 4th. Produced by Pat McCarthy and R.E.M., the album also features rapper Q Tip on the track "The Outsiders". The first single for the album is 'Leaving New York', and will be released on the October 4th as well.
