Capitol Records will be putting out a box set containing the first 4 albums released by the Beatles in the US (Meet the Beatles, The Beatles Second Album, Something New and Beatles '65). The set, entitled Capitol Albums Volume 1 will be available Nov 16.

Scottish Invasion Continues

One of the first Scottish indie bands to make a name in the US, The Delgatos, are heading out on a fall tour of North America in support of their most recent release, Universal Audio. Crooked Fingers, otherwise known as Eric Bachmann from the Archers of Loaf, will be opening all dates.

Even though the group is no more, a new website has been launched to celebrate the Verve and to give details on their upcoming "best of" album, This Is Music: The Singles 92-98. There are audio and video clips, a photo gallery and a competition in honor of the Nov 1 release.

Who's Bad?

Apparently it was Incubus lead singer Brandon Boyd's on Wednesday night. Boyd was stopped going through security in LaGuardia Airport when a switchblade was detected in his carry-on. It all got straightened out, and Boyd made it to the band's show that night in Raleigh, NC, on time with the help of a police escort. When questioned about forgetting the switchblade was in his bag, Boyd stated, "My bad."

Long Live Queen

On Nov 9th, Queen on Fire: Live at the Bowl will be released as a double-disc CD and DVD (sold seperately). The 1982 show was in taped in London and features the supergroup performing such classics as "Fat Bottom Girls," "Under Pressure," and of course, "Bohemian Rapsody."

M83 will release Before The Dawn Heals Us, the follow up to Dead Cities, Red Seas & Lost Ghosts on January 25, 2005. The first single from the new album, "Don't Save Us From The Flames," is a "stridently optimistic and uplifting anthem that seems to feature a rogue theremin at its heart, as well as the trademark M83 sound and beatific choral backing vocals."

Turns out that ex-Stone Roses frontman Ian Brown's latest solo effort, Solarized, will see the light of day in the US. KOCH will be releasing the record, featuring Brown's collaboration with Noel Gallagher, "Keep What Ya Got," stateside on Feb 22, 2005.

Flaming Lips release Placebo Head Wound

According to this press release, the Flaming Lips have compiled a photographic biography of the band spanning from 1987 to 2004. Sometime soon the book will be for sale on the bands website and be limited to 1,500 numbered copies. If you preorder before Nov 12 you'll receive a free "Christmas on Mars" 7" picture disc featuring two songs from the still-to-be-released film of the same name.

One Good Deed...

As the Glasgwegian band Travis performed at an impromtu street concert to help raise money for a homeless charity, a freaked out junkie jumped up and came at lead singer Fran Healy with a syringe screaming, "Give me money! Give me money for a fix!" Nice to know that good deeds now land you in the path of smacked out assholes. (By the way, everyone's ok)
