Live have just released Awake, The Best of Live, a deluxe 19-song compilation CD spanning the entire 13-year history of the band. The package also includes a DVD containing 22 music videos going back to the band's 1991 debut. Check out this Live Media Player featuring the videos for “Lightning Crashes”, “Heaven” and an interview with lead singer Ed Kowalczyk. Or perhaps you prefer a stream of the unreleased “We Deal in Dreams” in Windows Media or Real Audio.

On January 18th The Chemical Brothers will return with the song "Galvanize", a track featuring the vocal talents of Q-tip. The song is the first single to be taken from the forthcoming new studio album Push the Button due for release on January 25th.

Coming out in March 2004 will be the new Bruce Lee Band CDEP Beautiful World, featuring Mike Park backed by members of Rx Bandits. It is being described as a "2 tone Ska influenced album in sound, with all the great songwriting of Mike Park and the amazing musicianship of the RxBandits."

More Nirvana Box Set Info

In support of the release of Nirvana’s With The Lights Out 3 CD/ 1 DVD Box Set (that we told you about earlier), we have the video for "In Bloom" below. The box set spans Nirvana's entire career, from a recording of Led Zeppelin's "Heartbreaker" at the band's first show in 1987 to solo acoustic performances from Kurt Cobain in 1994. The set also features a 60-page color booklet with rare photos and liner notes by Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore and writer Neil Strauss.

Erasing the Past

With an unmistakable sound and a musical legacy firmly established, Erasure return with their first studio album in seven years, Nightbird on January 25th. The band will release their new single "Breathe" on January 18th, & plan to tour North America in support of the album in April 2005. The Sweetest CSI Thing

U2 will use the CBS show "CSI" as a platform to launch How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb. Three songs from the album will be involved with the show: November 18th's episode will feature a remix of the (actually quite good) single "Vertigo," while another unnamed track will be included in the 25th's episode.

iTunes are Soooo Punk

Only if you're a true Mission Of Burma fan will you care that the (commie-esque) band are releasing an eight-song EP entitled Snapshot exclusively through iTunes. This "follow-up" to 2004's full-length OnOffOn is due on Tuesday, but apparently only to iTunes, bad luck.

The eleven-track follow-up to Ben Folds' Rockin' the Suburbs is on its way! Folds produced the not-titiled-yet album himself and recorded it over the past month in Nashville with bassist Jared Reynolds and drummer Lindsay Jamieson. Pedal steel guitarist Bucky Baxter (Bob Dylan, R.E.M.) guests on a re-recording of "Give Judy My Notice," originally found on Fold's Speed Graphic EP, and Weird Al Yankovic makes an appearance on "Time." "Late" is a tribute to Elliott Smith, who Folds toured with back in 1998, when Folds was fronting Ben Folds Five.

M Doughty re-released

Mike Doughty (the voice of Soul Coughing) will have his EP's Skittish and Rockity Roll re-released via ATO Records on December 7th. Both discs will have bonus tracks not included on the independently released versions. Mike Doughty is currently in the studio with Dan Wilson (of Semisonic) preparing his first full-band, full-length record (also to be released on ATO).

First Avenue, the legendary Minneapolis club which was featured prominently in the movie Purple Rain, has closed its doors after it's founder declared bankruptcy. While the possibility exists that it will re-open under different ownership, all currently scheduled bookings are being shuffled to other area venues.

SpongeBob Flaming Lips

On Nov 9, the first single from the upcoming SpongeBob SquarePants film (in theatres Nov 19) will come out, complete with video. The track, "SpongeBob & Patrick Confront the Psychic Wall of Energy," comes from the generally out there Flaming Lips, and the video features the band as food items inside a very large mouth. Okaaaay. Other bands on the soundtrack include Wilco, Ween, and Motorhead.
