At the end of February Bjork will release a compilation of remixes for the song "Army of Me." The strangest part about this 2-CD compilation being that songs can be submitted by fans up until January 17th. Check out bjork.com for the full skinny on submissions.

Uptown Again

It looks like Greg Dulli (The Twilight Singers, Gutter Twins, ex-Afghan Whigs) has formed yet another band. Uptown Lights ("formed primarily to throw house parties in their hometown while they work on their respective individual projects") is made up of current and former members of The Twiligt Singers and are playing thier first show on February 19th in Silverlake, CA. Frances the Mute is actually a b-side

The forthcoming Mars Volta record, Frances the Mute is due out on March 1st (see here for details) via Interscope Records. On March 22nd, Gold Standard Labs will release a 12" vinyl-only release EP featuring the track "Frances the Mute" - not included on the actuall full-length. Mogwai release Government Commissions

Matador Records have set February 22nd as the release date for a new Mogwai collection entitled Government Commissions (BBC Sessions 1996-2003). What's on this disc? Well, if the title didn't give it away, the LP will feature a "career's worth of visits to the BBC's studios."

McLusky, we hardly knew you.

Our first news item this year about McLusky will unfortunately also be our last, as the band as reportedly broken up. According to their official site it's for private reasons, "though probably not as entertaining as you'd imagine." The least you can do is go download some goods from their site and remember what you missed out on.

Aqueduct hate pyrite

Barsuk Records will release the full-length disc I Sold Gold from Aqueduct. The good news? You can download the song "Growing Up With GnR" right here. The bad news? Fans of the band will notice that a lot of the tracks are repeats from previously released EP's and LP's. Irregardless, look for it on January 25th, it will brighten your day.
