Virgin Records is trying to do their part to raise money for the Tsunami victims by hosting 100 live bands and artist performing in a single day (January 20th). The event, 100 Acts of Support: The Concerts for Tsunami Relief is a national charity event that will feature 5 bands at each of its 20 nation-wide stores.

System Of A Down have posted online a new track entitled "Cigaro" that you can download here. The song comes from one of their two new albums that will be released this year, and is rumored to be from from the album Hypnotize, which has a tentative release date of March 15th.

Word on the street is that a new They Might Be Giants tribute album is planned for release this coming May or June through MultiMedia Three. Confirmed contributors include The Wrens, Frank Black, Steve Burns, Matt Mahaffey (or Self), Hotel Lights, This Radiant Boy, Recepter, the Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players, and most likely Reel Big Fish.

Deftones mini-update

There's a new Rolling Stone article interviewing Abe Cunningham regarding the forthcoming Deftones album and specifically their work with producer Bob Ezrin (responsible for Pink Floyd's The Wall). The jist of the article is that the new album will probably sound a bit more like The White Pony than Deftones. That's good news if I've ever heard it.

Grammy Nominees CD

It has been announced that Capitol Records will release the 2005 GRAMMY Nominees CD. This year's compilation - due in stores on February 1st - encompasses a wide range of music (from the Black Eyed Peas to Elvis Costello) and a portion of the proceeds from the sale of this CD will benefit charities including the MusiCares Foundation and the GRAMMY Foundation. All About The Music

The Music has announced plans for an extensive headlining tour of North America. The itinerary, begins February 17th in New York City and is highlighted by a special performance at the annual SXSW music conference in Austin, Texas. Additionally, the band will follow 2004 appearances on Late Night with Conan O'Brien and Last Call with Carson Daly with a slated March 14th performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
