Over a year without a post about Jamiroquai probably shows the importance of the band's music in the world right now. However, for fans (myself included) Jay Kay has finally scrounged up enough finished recordings for a new album, the band's sixth. The first single and the full-length should see release sometime during the Spring, as there is a "world tour" in the works for this Summer.
Richard D James (Aphex Twin, AFX, Polygon Window) will release a series of 10 vinyl-only, 12" EPs throughout the year under the new moniker Analord. Warp Records reports: "As the name implies, the series are based around analogue sounds and styles, utilising Richard’s legendary (and possibly unequalled) collection of vintage analogue gear he has built up over the years." Apparently the first installment of the pricy set is currently sold out, but you can check Rephlex for updates.
Sometimes it takes us a bit to catch up on the world music scene, but we couldn't let the new Regurgitator album slip by (even if it is only availabile in Australia currently). Nevertheless, the band released Mish Mash in November last year. What makes the album special is that it was recorded during a 3-week period the band were confined to a "glass bubble" in the middle of Federation Square in Melbourne, Australia. You can listen to "The Drop" and find more information on the event over at the "Band In A Bubble" website. For other information, head over to their website or download their latest single.

311 recently notified fans that they are busy writing and rehearsing daily in preparation to record a proper follow-up to Evolver sometime this month and continuing through March. The band currently have 12 new songs and are eyeing a July release date. Producer David Kahne has been working with the band during the songwriting process (he also helped form "First Straw" from last year's Greatest Hits 93-03), however long-time collaborator Ron Saint Germain will once again helm the boards for the sessions.

For you rock historians, Patty Boyd (ex-Mrs. George Harrison, ex-Mrs. Eric Clapton) will be opening an exhibition of her photographs on Valentines Day (Feb 14) and running through March 19 at the San Francisco Art Exchange. The show will include around 60 of her photographs of her famous husbands and their bands as well as other rock royalty with whom she is friends and of the places she has traveled. Wow.
Fat Wreck has just signed Smoke or Fire and will release their record on March 22nd. Check out a song from the band here.
As you know, Tori Amos is coming out with a new album, The Beekeeper, on 2/22. Well, here's a treat for the fans: Each week for six weeks a new, full-length track in QuickTime will be up at ToriAmos.com, and each week's track is from one of "the six gardens" of the album (concept?). "Sweet The Sting" from the Elixirs and Herbs garden is this week's. Tori's first video from the album is "Sleeps With Butterflies," and you can look at stills here.
In what has become an unsettlingly common headline, ex-Libertines co-frontman Pete Doherty is in trouble again. Doherty was arrested in London last night on theft and assault charges against a filmmaker who has been working on a documentary on Doherty's new band Babyshambles. BBC has the full story.
