Joyful Rebellion Indeed

k-os was honored Monday with 3 Juno Award nominations from the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. The nominations include “Single of the Year” for his current single “Crabbuckit”, “Video of the Year” for “B-Boy Stance” and “Rap Recording of the Year” for sophomore album Joyful Rebellion. He is also slated to perform Live at 34th Annual Juno Awards from Winnipeg. Additionally, he will be bringing his show on the road this April, officially announcing a full-blown U.S. tour, complete with a performance at Coachella.

Brits Winners 2005

Last night in London, the 2005 Brits were held (basically the UK version of the Grammys). Big winners were The Streets, Scissor Sisters, Franz Ferdinand, Keane and Joss Stone. Check out the list of winners here. What I can't sort out is how Robbie Williams' "Angels" beat out Queen and Joy Division for best record of the last 25 years!

Fantômas have announced upcoming headlining dates for the Ipecac Geek Tour 2005. The shows are likely in support of their upcoming album, Suspended Animation, due April 5th (view the artwork for the CD). Joining Patton & Co. on most dates will be The Locust and Trevor Dunn's Trio Convulsant.

The album is due out April 26th on Quannum and will feature 5 new songs and 8 remix tracks that "are similar to the originals only in name." The band is touring in support of their new record The Hate Yourself Change, released by Sidecho Records and Crank! on February 8th. Alice Without Layne?

Seattle's K-Rock Radio will hold a Tsunami Relief Concert that is bringing Alice In Chains together for the first time since 1996. Surviving members Jerry Cantrell, Sean Kinney and Mike Inez will be performing, and word is that Jerry will be handling all the vocals. Also on the bill will be appearances by Krist Novoselic of Nirvana, Ann Wilson of Heart, Sir Mix-A-Lot, and Chris DeGarmo of Queensryche. The show is on Friday, February 18th at the Premier Club in Seattle.

Beck It Up

According to Billboard, March 29 will see the release of three versions of Beck’s latest album, Guero. There will be a standard CD, a double-disc package featuring two videos (“E-Pro” and “Black Tambourine”) and a surround sound mix, and a third version which includes four remixes (from Boards Of Canada, Octet, Dizzee Rascall, and Royksopp).
