Not Another Teen Movie.. no really, not another one

Have you noticed that many of today's acts are making it big by covering some mildly popular (or incredibly) popular song from the 80's? Well, if not, get ready for a whole soundtrack of today's artists covering yesterdays hits. The movie Not Another Teen Movie boasts quite a lineup of artists, all doing covers. The first single is Marilyn Manson covering Soft Cell's "Tainted Love." He says he has "taken out the swing element" of the song and "made it very electronic, using rap-beats and a heavy aesthetic to create what I hope will become a strip bar anthem." Interesting. Other artists to be found on the roster are Goldfinger (Nena - "99 Red Luft Balloons") Saliva (Pretenders - "Message of Love") Mest (Modern English - "I Melt With You") Muse (The Smiths - "Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want") Good Charlotte (OMD - "If You Leave") Scott Weiland (Depeche Mode - "But Not Tonight") Smashing Pumpkins (Depeche Mode - "Never Let Me Down Again") Orgy (New Order - "Blue Monday") Stabbing Westward (New Order - "Bizarre Love Triangle" - also covered and popularized by the band Frente.. but they won't be appearing on the soundtrack) Phantom Planet (Jackson Browne - "Somebody's Baby"). Look for the movie on December 14th and expect the Manson track to be the first single, hitting airwaves sometime this month.
