2005 Mercury Prize

Contenders for the 2005 Mercury Music Prize (UK version) were announced today. The field of 12 included Bloc Party, Hard Fi, Kaiser Chiefs and ... Coldplay. I think Richard Gervase (The Office) said it best when he remarked basically that if Coldplay won, they'd probably blow the prize money on lunch.
The full list of contenders is as follows:
Antony And The Johnsons 'I Am A Bird Now'
Bloc Party 'Silent Alarm'
Coldplay 'X&Y'
The Go! Team 'Thunder Lightning Strike'
Hard-Fi 'Stars On CCTV'
Kaiser Chiefs 'Employment'
KT Tunstall 'Eye To The Telescope'
The Magic Numbers 'The Magic Numbers'
Maximo Park 'A Certain Trigger'
M.I.A. 'Arular'
Polar Bear 'Held On The Tips Of Fingers'
Seth Lakeman 'Kitty Jay'
