Can you believe it's been 20 years since Prince's Purple Rain came into our lives? To celebrate this funky event, Warner Home Video will release a 2-disc special anniversary edition on August 24th. There will be lots of goodies and extras with the set including audio comment, featurettes, and no less than 7 videos.
Extras include:
- Remastered in 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen
- Dolby Digital 5.1 surround
- audio commentary with the director, producer, and cinematographer
- featurettes on the Minneapolis music scene & Prince's career before Purple Rain, the making of the movie, and Prince's legacy & the impact on pop culture
- 7 videos: 4 from Prince, 2 from The Time & "Sex Shooter" from Apollonia 6
- 1984 MTV premier party footage
- theatrical trailers for all 3 Prince movies
Retail cost for Purple Rain: 20th Anniversary Edition will be $26.95. Under the Cherry Moon and Graffiti Bridge will come out the same day with several extras of their own for $19.95.
