A new award entitled the Shortlist Prize for Artistic Achievement in Music has been created and is being endorsed by some big name people including Beck, Trent Reznor, Macy Gray, Mos Def, Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl, Aimee Mann, Lucinda Williams, and the Roots' ?uestlove. The artist will be among the people selecting winners for the new prize, which aims to honor cutting-edge music rather than the most commercially successful artists. The rest of the listmakers are: producers Dan the Automator, Steve Lillywhite, and Ross Robinson; music journalists Steve Hochman, Ray Roker, Neil Strauss, and Toure; and radio personality Nic Harcourt of L.A. station KCRW.
