It Won't Get Any Better

For those expecting the quality of musical programming on radio or TV (or most media, for that matter) to improve in the coming years, you better stop hoping. The FCC voted Monday to allow large corporations to buy up to three TV stations, eight radio stations, the cable TV system, cable TV stations and a daily newspaper in one market. And, it also makes it easier for the FCC to put regulations on what can and can't be shown or covered in the media. Ovearll, what it boils down to is one company will possibly have say over what you watch, hear and read. It's clearly a move that is all about money (the root of all evil), and I'm sure the people involved wouldn't deny that fact. It's a bit too late to write your representative or senator to prevent this decision, but you can still let them know how dumb it is. Somewhere a fat, bald, middle-aged white man is swimming naked in his billions (ala Scrooge McDuck) and laughing at us all.
