Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers are readying The Last DJ, the group's 12th studio album, for an October 8th release. Among the guests are original bassist Ron Blair, drummer Steve Ferrone, Lindsey Buckingham from Fleetwood Mac and musical renaissance man Jon Brion. According to quotes from the LA Times and Rolling Stone, Petty regards the album as "a kind of audio movie" that is about "the celebration of mediocrity in America."
