Massive Sigh of Relief
Reported by erun
The long-awaited follow-up (we're waiting too) to Massive Attack's 1998 release Mezzanine has suffered setbacks throughout the recording process, with Grant Marshall, aka Daddy G and Robert "3-D" Del Naja trying to whittle down the huge volume of songs they recorded down to a definitive album length. Last month, rumours of a split circulated (p_layer warned you) after "3-D" revealed that he and Daddy G were in meetings to "discuss the future of the band". However, the group are now in a London studio working on mixes of their final tracks. In a new posting, 3-D said that they are attempting to mix one song every day, but joked that given the band's slow progress so far, this is unlikely. He wrote: "Second week of mix. Optimistic daydreams of a trak (sic) a day soon fade under the dim glare of studio uplighters. Asian sporting events and unsociable television schedules take their toll. Sort of four trax (sic) in - 30 piece string section in on Friday (June 21) post England - Brazil. Nice weather up here in the smoke...ten trax (sic) to mix. A song a day - yeah right! In your fucking dreams my son." Their as-yet-untitled record is scheduled for release in September. A single could be released in August.
