Dueling Guitars And Sonic Youth
Reported by heyrevolver
According to Rolling Stone, Sonic Youth have finished production on Murray Street, their follow-up to NYC Ghosts and Flowers. The group worked with producer Jim O'Rourke on their previous album and he has since become a permanent member of the group, helping write and record for Murray Street. Thurston Moore had this to say of the new material: "The music is sort of taking a weird turn right now. It's like Jim and I are sort of high-fiving each other over these classic [-rock] moments. And Lee [Ranaldo] sort of comes out of the Grateful Dead, and he sort of looks up at us like, 'What the hell is that all about?' And we're like, 'It's ELO, man!' And Kim [Gordon's] amused by the whole thing. So I'm afraid to say we have become a very weird mutation of classic rock." Look for the new LP in stores on July 2nd.
