Whats with Remix albums?

Capitalizing on their "best-selling album of 2001" title Linkin Park will be releasing a remix album featuring songs from their album Hybrid Theory. The album will feature many guest appearances including Aaron Lewis of Staind ("Crawling"), Crystal Method and Ryu from Styles of Beyond ("Pushing Me Away"), Jay Gordon ("Points of Authority"), as well as Dilated Peoples' Evidence, DJ Z-Trip, Prince Paul, the Alchemist, and Josh Abraham.
