Spearhead Goes Acoustic
Reported by heyrevolver
Michael Franti, frontman of Spearhead, has already written several songs for the group's next album, now titled "Everyone Derserves Music". Franti spoke with Billboard.com about the inspiration behind the new album: "On the road, I visited countries in the past couple years where you go to a little village and there's no electricity, there's no place to plug in an amplifier, or a turntable. And I saw people sing songs in other languages with just an acoustic guitar and it was so beautiful to hear." Franti spent the remaining part of last year learning the acoustic guitar, which he used to write the majority of the material. The whole group will enter the studio and work until the beginning of February until they take off on a two-month tour on February 9th. In April, the group will return to the studio and finish work on the album, which is slated for a September release through Six Degrees (a label known for mixing dance and world music).
