Doves Fly East For The Winter

Reported by heyrevolver

The Doves new album already claims to be on the best releases of 2002, but we'll see when we hear it. Nevertheless, the band seems to have taken a less standard approach to this record, using brass, woodwinds, and some strings on a couple tracks. Drummer Andy Williams commented, "It's not quite finished yet, but it's shaping up really well. It's more up and positive than 'Lost Souls'. We've got a bit more money now, so we can do exactly what we want. Not to say that we've blown it and got an 80-piece orchestra in or anything!" In addition to the extra instrumentation, Sean O'Hagen from High Llamas added some strings on a couple tracks, 'Friday's Dust' and 'Sulphur Man'. Overall, the group has experimented with different sounds and have feature more of a "head-nodding vibe" on this effort.
