De Jolly Zwan

Reported by erun

One new band is not enough for the bald crusader of rock, Billy Corgan. Corgan is a member of both the "electric" version of Zwan, currently touring the U.S., and Djali Zwan, featuring the same people but playing acoustic material. And the singer-guitarist plans to film Djali Zwan in the studio this fall, with an album and DVD to be issued early next year. Read more about it here if you dare to compare.

Strokin' Nigel

Reported by holmes

The Strokes are headed into a studio with none other than producer Nigel Godrich. They plan on recording two brand new songs to use as a "test drive." If the sessions turn out well, they'll continue with Godrich on a full length. If not, they claim its "back to the drawing board." Regardless, they hope to have a new album out by late Summer/early Fall.

A whole band of Maynards

Reported by ben

Remember those weird blue guys on the Intel© commercials a year or two ago? Yeah, the Blue Man Group. They're going out on tour to promote their first rock album The Complex, which hits shelves on April 22nd. Their pores gasping for oxygen, the Blue Man Group had this to say about the rock show, "The production that will be introduced at Coachella is not a touring version of the Blue Man Group theatrical productions, it is a state-of-the-art rock show featuring lots of new music that will allow Blue Man Group to push the boundaries of the concert experience." It will certainly be interesting. Want the where's and when's?

Let's keep this a bit of a secret and not spread it around much (at least until I get my tickets and can rest easy). Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, minus a bad seed, will be doing their only North American touring in support of Nocturama in June. Some fair warning: it is a mini tour (7 shows, 5 cities). Hit 'more' for tour dates as well as on-sale dates. I feel all warm inside now...

Godspeed You! International Terrorists?

Reported by ben

While making the trek from Fort Worth to St. Louis last week, our good friends from Canada, Godspeed You! Black Emperor stopped to get gas and attracted suspicion from a station attendant. They apparently looked a little too unsavory, so the attendant alerted police thinking they were terrorists. After having guns drawn on them by scores of police and FBI officers and hours of questioning, they were allowed to go on their merry way. God Bless America! Head over to their website for a live recording of the new song "Albanian." Look carefully. And finally, if you're planning on being in Europe between May 8th and June 7th, hit 'more' for their newly announced European dates.
