Ben Lee, will be all over your television sets over the next ten days, beginning with the first of three late night TV gigs tonight (7/24) on MTV's "new" Tom Green Show. Mr. Lee will then perform on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno on July 30, and The Late Late Show With Craig Kilborn on Friday, August 1. Ben's latest album, Hey You. Yes You will hit shelves on August 5th through F2 Records.

Blues

Martin Scorsese's The Blues, a seven-part series that features full-length films directed by Wim Wenders, Richard Pearce, Clint Eastwood and Scorsese himself, premieres September 28th on PBS. Wenders (Buena Vista Social Club) directed The Soul of a Man by using a combination of fictional re-enactments, archival footage and blues covers by the likes of Nick Cave, Los Lobos, Bonnie Raitt, Lucinda Williams and Lou Reed, to tell the stories of blues artists Skip James, Blind Willie Johnson and J.B. Lenoir. Accompanying The Blues TV series will be a five-disc box set featuring music from the seven films and a book with a foreword by Scorsese and an afterword by rapper Chuck D.

QOTSA keeps playing for the Deaf

It appears that Queens Of The Stone Age will be remaining on the road through October (see the more for the new dates) and then bassist Nick Oliveri is going out with Mondo Generator and the Distillers. Oh, and then in January all three bands will make a quick jaunt through Australia. Expect the followup to Songs For the Deaf a long time from now, these boys are too busy on the road to record.

Buddyhead put out comp cd with clever title

Somehow Buddyhead is putting out a compilation CD on Nettwerk Records entitled Buddyhead Presents: Gimme Skelter. The disc contains 16 "exclusive or rare tracks" from the likes of Mudhoney, Le Tigre, Wire, and strangely enough.. Weezer. For the full tracklisting hit up the more. Axl was obviously the lazy one

Since GN'R can't seem to figure out how to release an album, you'll have to make due with the forthcoming Velvet Revolver (that would be Slash, Duff McKagan, Matt Sorum, David Kushner, and Scott Weiland) EP/DVD that is planned for an October 13th release on Immortal Records. The disc is planned to contain the six-song set that the band recently played at the El Rey Theatre as well as at least one studio track. Check the more for the tenative list. The DVD will be based around footage shot from the same performance.

Manmade God have lined up a month's worth of new dates, including shows with Taproot, RA, and a string of dates on the upcoming Adema, Powerman 5000, Spineshank tour. Don't Watch Me Surf Or Else

In an odd turn of events, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin went nuts on some photographer in Australia that was taking pictures of him surfing at Byron Bay. Martin reportedly hit the cameraman's car window with a rock eight times after he refused to scrap video taken, and he then tried to deflate the guys tires. The singer was then arrested back at his hotel. Oh, and he had girlfriend Gwyneth Paltrow with him to, not that it had any affect on the whole situation I'm sure.

Help A Brotha Out

Luke Herbst, the drummer for Bats & Mice, recently had a pretty bad accident where one of his eyes was seriously injured. He is currently doing fine and his doctors say he should have normal vision returned to that eye eventually. Unfortunately, he hasn't been able to work for over a month now and his bills have been piling up. Lovitt Records has set up a PayPal account at luke@batsandmice.com for any donations so he can get back on his feet.

Ben Davis (Sleepytime Trio, Bats & Mice, Milemarker) has finished work on his second full-length entitled Aided & Abetted. The CD will include a comprehensive multimedia section of the recording process and MP3 demos of some of the songs. He will also be playing shows throughout the Fall, with dates to be announced soon.

Want More Rufus Wainwright?

Rufus Wainwright has made it official that his third album, entitled Want, will be released on September 23rd. The album was produced by Marius DeVries (Björk, David Bowie, U2) and recorded in New York and London. The recording sessions went so well that not only does the new album include 14 new tracks, but a second volume of Want will be released early next year.
