The Hardest Button To Button

Reported by heyrevolver

Fresh off their last video, the White Stripes have already completed work and posted a clip for "The Hardest Button To Button". Two things to look for: Jack White's dastardly mustache and a quick Beck cameo. You can find it over at the band's website.

Imported Love

Reported by heyrevolver

The UK seems to get all the good geek stuff! Not only did they already get the Deftones "Bloody Cape" CD single, they will also get the "Hexagram" CD single on September 22nd. Nothing too incredible, but we US-natives still have to go the way of the import if we want to hear the two non-LP Deftones tracks, "XO" or "Lovers".

Another Dose Of Futurock

Is There Power In Folklore?

Reported by heyrevolver

Depsite reports from Rolling Stone, Nelly Furtado seems to be referring to her new album as Folklore, not the previously reported Fresh Off The Boat. How do I know? Well, I heard the lady say it herself over at her website. However, when it comes to conflicting information, it seems it's best just to call everything tentative. Nevertheless, the first single seems to want to be "Powerless" and should be out before you know it. And, despite the title argument, the album is set for release on November 25th.

Start Something

The UK's Lost Prophets have finished work on their new album, tentatively titled Start Something. The band have currently made plans to shoot a video for the first single, also tentativley "Burn, Burn", which will see a release on October 27th (UK). So, I guess it's just all tentative, and we haven't even heard anything about the US yet.

Way Out Of Season

Reported by heyrevolver

I wondered why I never could find the new Beth Gibbons CD in stores. Apparently, it's because it was never properly released in the US! Well, seems someone noticed and has scheduled a US release of Out Of Season for October 7th. Furthermore, Beth Gibbons and co-hort Paul Webb will hit the states for a short jaunt featuring members of Talk Talk (drummer Lee Harris and bassist Simon Edwards) and Portishead (guitarist Adrian Utley) joining them on the dates. The stint begins October 8th and runs through the end of the month...

What Is Nakia?

Reported by simple

Nakia is an electronic music project created by drummer Tony Hajjar, of Sparta and At The Drive-In fame, in collaboration with multiple artists, over a course of two years whenever time allowed. It is "an ethereal interpretation, mixing downtempo ambience with drum-n-bass, and certainly confined by no one genre." The album is limited to 1000 copies and is only available at Smark Punk. So be snappy!

The Man In Black

Reported by heyrevolver

In case you still haven't heard, Johnny Cash passed away today at the age of 71 due to respiratory failure associated with diabetes. I won't lie and tell you all that I was a huge, dedicated fan, but as a lover of music, it's hard to not feel the passing of such a legend. For more on Cash's life, divert your attention to Pitchfork for some history and details about the Cash outtakes box set due out in the coming months.

Take Comfort, Woman

Reported by heyrevolver

Aside from appearing twice on the new Basement Jaxx record, Meshell Ndegeocello will drop her 5th album, Comfort Woman, on October 14th. The album is a mix of Ndegeocello's soulful funk, reggae and intergalactic psychedelia. Basically, "it's a love record." You can head over to her website, sign up for the mailing list and preview a new track from the album, "Andromeda And The Milky Way". Here's the spacey cover art, which looks rad to me.
