Everyone Gets Barenaked

The Barenaked Ladies will release their new album, Everything To Everyone through Reprise Records on October 21st. There will be limited and regular editions released of the album, with the "Limited Edition" featuring 3 bonus acoustic tracks, special artwork, and a DVD with video footage of the band performing 11 acoustic songs. The first single, "Another Postcard" can be heard online in Quicktime and Windows Media, and you can check out a list of show dates below.

More Xmas Compliations

In more Christmas compilation news, Immortal Records will be releasing A Santa Clause ’03 on November 11. This lineup is quite noteworthy; it includes Something Corporate, Matchbox Romance, The Beautiful Mistake, Mxpx, and the Mighty Mighty Bosstones. I’m waiting on some Hannukah compilations- I’ll let you know what I find. You know what to do for the tracklisting.

The long-awaited new album from The Walkmen has a name- Bows and Arrows – and will be in our hands in February 2004. According to the official website, the sweater-vest clad boys are off on another tour. More dates will probably be added, but for now….

Go Johnny Go!

Radiohead guitarist Johnny Greenwood, who I say is the real genius in the band, will be releasing his debut solo album on October 27th. The album, which is entitled Bodysong, is also the soundtrack to the forthcoming film of the same name. It's not completely a solo effort though, as the track "24 Hour Charleston" also features his brother and Radiohead bassist, Colin Greenwood. For more information on the movie go to Bodysong.com.

Regrouping

Despite getting royally screwed by the majors, Spymob are still hanging in there and have updated their Internet digs. While still shoveling through the industry dung heap in attempts to recover their major-label debut, Sitting Around Keeping Score, it's looking as if the album may see the light of day through their pals', The Neptunes, label, Star Trak. But, nothing's set in stone yet. At least, check out the new website and listen to the album samples.

Pearl Jame Want It Rare

Pearl Jam will release their long-awaited rarities and b-sides double album, Lost Dogs, on November 11th through Epic Records (even though they don't own them anymore). The double-disc set will include 31 tracks compiled from various archives, benefit albums, soundtracks and compilations Pearl Jam have contributed songs to over the years. Also, on the same day, the band will release their second live DVD from the July 8th, 2003 concert at Madison Square Garden, entitled Pearl Jam Live at the Garden. We got details on it all...

Detroit's Finest

The Von Bondies have just signed to Site/Warners Bros to release their third full-length, Pawn Shoppe Heart, due sometime in 2004. The ‘Bondies are working with Jerry Harrison, former Talking Heads guitarist on this one. In the meantime, I recommend checking out their live album Raw and Rare as well as clicking “more” for the new tracklisting.

The Greatest

It's "greatest hits" season it seems. In addition to R.E.M. and Pearl Jam, the Red Hot Chili Peppers are assembling three releases for November 18th. First up is the Greatest Hits album, which will include 13 classics and two new cuts, "Fortune Faded" and "History". A DVD of the same name will hit shelves with most of RHCP's videos since "Higher Ground". Lastly, another DVD filmed at their show at Slane Castle, titled Live at Slane, will be found lurking on the shelves this upcoming holiday season. Ah, marketing; see how that works?

Get Off My Jeans, Norma

After just finishing up a run of West Coast dates on the Solid State Tour, the guys in Norma Jean are at it again. This time they’re taking over the East Coast, and finishing out the remainder of the Solid State Tour with the likes of Figure Four, Beloved, and Stretch Arm Strong. They will also be participating in this year’s CMJ Tooth & Nail / Solid State Showcase, October 22nd at Downtime. As well, the band squeezed a video shoot for the song “Memphis Will Be Laid to Waste” off their album Bless the Martyr, Kiss the Child.

Do The Foo Fighters Have It All?

The Foo Fighters are set to release their fourth single from One By One, "Have It All". The release will be available in both CD and 7", with a cover of "Darling Nikki" by Prince. The CD will exclusively feature studio and live versions of the b-side "Disenchanted Lullaby".

Phantom Planet, or should we say Epic Records, is re-releasing their critically acclaimed, major-label debut, The Guest, on November 4th with new artwork. No word yet if it will include any extra tracks, but it's right in time to start up the hype machine for their new album, Forever. And, in case you missed it, be sure to check out their new single, "Big Brat".

The D On DVD

The Tenacious D double DVD, entitled The Complete Masterworks, will be in stores on October 28th. The main DVD will be packed full of material, including a show recorded at the Brixton Academy in London on September 3rd, 2002, live short films, and the infamouse HBO episodes. The bonus DVD will include "an intimate portrait of Jack and Kyle and their life of carnal debauchery on the road", never before seen backstage footage, and the making of the "Tribute" and "Wonderboy" videos. Rock!
