Curefest 2004

In addition to playing at Coachella, as well as planning a touring carnival called Curefest that will drag along the likes of Interpol, The Rapture and Mogwai, Robert Smith has revealed that the Cure's new Ross Robinson-produced album is in the can and ready to be offered to the public. The disc will hit shelves via Geffen at the end of June.

"Game With Fame" gives fans from all over the world a chance to play Xbox games (via Xbox Live) against NYC rockers, the Strokes on April 27th from 3-5pm (Central Time). The fellas will be using the gamertag "newyorkcitycops."

Our friends at Bifocal Media will be premiering the Braid: Killing a Camera 2004 Retrospective film at Kings Barcade in Raleigh, NC on May 1st at 8:30pm. This is part of the "Anyone But Bush" show and the film will be followed by live rock from Continent, Utah!, Proof, and more. Furthermore, The Kickass (a band you owe it to yourself to check out) is stopping off on their spring tour to play the Berkeley Cafe in Raleigh on April 27th.

An all-star line-up has been announced for "Life's A Gas - The Annaul Joey Ramone Birthday Bash" 2004 to take place Wednesday, May 19th at Irving Plaza in NYC. The line-up of bands performing at this year's Bash includes Alkaline Trio, The Dickies, Supersuckers, Bebe Buell, Sic F*cks, Slashtones and the all-star Friends of Joey Ramone - formed for the event - consisting of Marky Ramone, Tommy Ramone, and others.

Amnesty International Auctions

The next round of Amnesty International auctions are live and this time around Blink 182 and Cypress Hill have teamed up with Amnesty to auction off two tix, two passes for the VIP area and two passes for the Meet & Greet, a signed Blink 182 CD and a signed Cypress Hill CD. The auctions run from April 12th-22nd and begins and closes at 7pm ET.

Best Tour Evs?

I don't think it's 100% confirmed yet, but it seems almost certain that The Cure will be touring the U.S. this summer (July - September?) with Interpol. It makes sense, since both bands should have releases out around that time. If it's true, that'll be one big brooding mess I'll be happily standing in line for.

Back At Work In Boston

Dear Leader is in a Boston studio with Paul Kolderie (whose resume includes Radiohead & The Pixies) on a new album. While the first was Aaron Perrino doing his thing solo, this follow up will feature a full band. A working list of 12 songs is prepared and the album should hopefully be out this fall, most likely on Lunch Records.
