Singer songwriters Mike Park and Jenny Choi are heading out on a short tour together. Punknews reports that it is to "celebrate Asians who revel in the indie rock subculture and are actively bringing innovative soundscapes to the forefront of what we consider today as American music...the tour hopes to give voice to the often silent 'model' minority by broadening the cookie cutter stereotypes often relegated to Asian Americans." It Was Overhead

Now It's Overhead has just released the first single from their latest album, Fall Back Open, entitled "Wait in a Line." The single features a cover of The Magnetic Fields' "The Book of Love" as well as "Wait in a Line (Faint Mix)." Also on the horizon for Now It's Overhead is a fall tour opening for Rilo Kiley. Vote For Change

A number of bands have signed on for the Vote For Change Tour, a series of concerts presented by MoveOn.Org's political action committee MoveOn PAC. Artists include Pearl Jam, R.E.M., Bruce Springsteen, Death Cab For Cutie, and Bright Eyes, and the tour will visit 28 cities in nine swing states in an effort to rally support for the Democratic party and the Kerry campaign. The Second Annual Howl! Festival of East Village Arts (it's an Allen Ginsberg tribute thing) in NYC is going to be August 17-24. Moby, Steve Earle, Suzanne Vega, and Boy George are all performing. No word on if you have to be a one-person music entity to play.

I didn't know there was such a thing as a Layne Staley Fund Benefit show (Alice in Chains), but apparently it's been going on for three years. Staind's Aaron Lewis and Candlebox's Kevin Martin are among the guests (performers?) at the August 27th Seattle, Washington gig. The proceeds will be used to help recovering heroin addicts.

Don't laugh...Nancy Sinatra is releasing an album (thanks to good pal Morrissey's insistance that she be signed to his label) on Sept 28th. The self-titled release will feature Sinatra singing a cover of Moz's "Let Me Kiss You" with the man himself singing backup. Other strange bedfellows include Jarvis Cocker (Pulp), Bono, Pete Yorn, and Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth). I'm a little stunned myself.

Mclusky are currently limbering up for their appearance at the Reading and Leeds Festivals in August, and shortly after they will release a new single, "She Will Only Bring You Happiness," on September 6th.
