Riders on the Storm

Reported by erun

"The Doors are Jim, John, Ray and Robbie," sayeth John Densmore, fanatical drummer of the Doors. "I don't care if they call themselves 'former members of the Doors,' 'the Hinges' or 'the Windows.' I just want clarity. I don't want deception." Who are they? Former Cult frontman Ian Astbury (sitting in for the late late late Jim Morrison) and former Police drummer Stewart Copeland (playing for the absent John Densmore) on the eve of a February 7th at a Doors reunion show in Los Angeles. Despite this hypocritical statement (think about it, concentrate on the name "Jim") Densmore filed a legal action against the band hoping to convince the group to alter its name. Read more here.

WTF?

Reported by ben

Phil Spector, one of the most legendary producers ever, was arrested today and charged with first degree murder of a woman. The unidentified woman was apparently shot dead in Spector's home early this morning. Spector's bail has been set at $1 million. Spector is famous for creating the 'wall of sound' and has produced the likes of The Beatles, The Ramones, The Righteous Brothers, and more recently Starsailor. Oddly enough, according to our friends over at Pitchfork Media, Apple Records will be issuing a new version of The Beatles' classic "Let It Be" album. This version will basically be "de-Spectorized" and should be available later in the year.
