Prick Try To Communicate

Reported by heyrevolver

Former Nothing Records artist Prick have annunced two Spring tourdates. So what's the big deal about two tourdates, you ask? Well, considering they've performed once in the past who-knows-how-many years, it is a big deal. Click "more" for the dates.

Cave In leaves you Dazed and Confused

Reported by yewknee

You know the new Cave In album Antenna comes out March 18th. And maybe you'd been considering going to see them live but just couldn't really decide. Well, if you hit up one of their US shows you'll have the chance to pick up a very limited edition 12" pressing of their Led Zeppelin cover "Dazed and Confused" (and an early version of "Breath of Water"). Eventually the vinyl may be available outside of shows, but is that a risk you really want to take?

Moth-Eaten Deer Head

Reported by ben

Anti- Records gets more impressive by the day. The label, which falls under the Epitaph umbrella, just signed The Locust. With memorable songs such as "Gluing Carpet to Your Genitals Does Not Make You a Cantaloupe", "Sever the Toes", and the classic "Moth-Eaten Deer Head", The Locust has become a household name (as you know). Their first Anti- release, Plague Soundscapes, will appear in June sometime. Oh yeah, they're on tour right now, so check out the grindcore.

Colt 45 and Jack the Ripper

Reported by ben

Post-punk noise rockers Ikara Colt have been working up quite a buzz lately (I'd put my money on several senses of the term 'buzz' being appropriate) and they've just embarked on their first North American tour. Since they are quite good, I thought it might be nice let statesiders know where to catch them for the first time.

Solo Celebration

Reported by ben

Many may be wondering what Dave Gahan has been up to while Depeche Mode bandmate Martin Gore has been finishing up his second solo album (it's called Counterfeit2 and features covers of tunes by some of the greatest songwriters pretty much ever and arrives April 29). To appease your curiosity, Mr. Gahan has been busy preparing his own solo effort called Paper Monsters. It's set for shelves in June and he'll be promoting it with some European tour dates (which will appear if you hit more). The album has been co-written with Knox Chandler and produced by Ken Thomas (who produced a little album called ( ) by Sigur Ros). Expect something happy.

Sans Beck

Reported by ben

The Flaming Lips, who as you should know recently put out Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots (one of the most critically acclaimed albums of last year), have announced some US club dates for April into May. I can't really think of a better way to welcome Spring than to see the Lips live.

System go Boom

Reported by yewknee

The PRP reports that the next System Of A Down single will be "Boom" from their album Steal This Album. A political fueled little ditty all about the bomb.. kind of appropriate I suppose. The best part is that it appears that documentary filmmaker Michael Moore is set to direct the video for the song.

Not neccasarily news.. but its cool.

Reported by yewknee

This one isn't about one particular artist per se, but rather an influential video director (who says we can't just share something cool?). If you like Spike Jonze, check out this page to see what Sputnik7 is calling his 16 best videos (includes his work with Weezer, Daft Punk, Fatboy Slim, Pharcyde, Wax, but surprisingly.. no Beastie Boys).
