AWWWWW &%^#ing HOSTILE!!!!!!

Reported by ben

May 10th will mark the return of of Headbanger's Ball. It will run at 10 PM on MTV2 (since MTV1 doesn't play music anymore). This would have seemed extremely appropriate ten years ago, but now it's only moderately appropriate that Metallica will be hosting the first show.

Riot Act Out on the Green Party

Reported by erun

Pearl Jam have done a really cool thing. They plan to counter the estimated 5,700 tons of greenhouse gas emissions generated by the trucks, buses, airplanes and their fans' 1 million cars on their current world tour by purchasing 5,700 tons of carbon produced by the Makira Rainforest Conservation project in Madagascar. Makira helped the band estimate the direct emissions of its tour's 30,000 mile route. Pearl Jam then purchased the carbon to conserve it, offsetting the warming potential of the emissions. Cool deal.

Reported by erun

Courtney Love now has twenty-eight songs (half of which are collaborations with Linda Perry of 4-Non Blondes, Pink and Agulerica fame. Bwhahaha.) for her upcoming solo debut, America's Sweetheart, including a cover of Kim Carnes' 1981 hit "Bette Davis Eyes." She is recording the album, due out in September, in a thirteen-century chateau in the South of France... But I know you knew that. Anyway, Among the songs Love is prepping for possible inclusion are the tentatively titled "Julian (But I'm A Little Older Than You)," "Mono," "Sunset Strip" and "Hold On To Me." She's playing Leeds and Reading and looking for a bassist and guitarist, hopefully female. Maybe she'll do some Durst-esque auditions.
