It is starting to seem somewhat official that the new Self album, Ornament & Crime, is going to hit stores in August or September. Put It The Background

Reported by heyrevolver

While speaking to XFM.com, Fran Healy of Travis reported that the follow-up to 2001's The Invisible Band is nearly finished. He stated: "“We have been recording, and we’re confidently close to having a very cool record finished... everyone that’s heard it says it sounds quite a bit ‘different’. I don’t think so, I think it still sounds like us, but then again you never really know how others hear you.” Travis have already released the song "The Beautiful Occupation" for the Warchild charity, but it seems the song will be included on the album. Other than that, no proper dates or details have been released about the album, it's just chit-chat right now.

Elliott Smith Injured

Reported by ben

Sweet Adeline, the most reliable source on all things Elliott Smith just alerted fans that future shows are up in the air (presumably including the Field Day Festival). Mr. Smith is apparently suffering from chronic pain following a serious injury in November (click on 'more' to read the actual news post from Sweet Adeline). They don't elaborate on the nature of the injury. However, and I don't know if there is any relation or not, but a while back the same site urged for anyone who had witnessed an 'incident' between Mr. Smith and the LAPD at a show on November 25 to contact so and so... Draw your own conclusions.

A few words of caution: There's only a few shows, Trent Reznor is not to be appearing with them, and one of the clubs they're playing at is advertising an opening for "Hot Sluts" (Hell on Earth on Long Island). Hit 'more' for the limited dates.
