In clear violation of the Geneva Convention...

Reported by ben

Frantic to find those weapons of mass destruction that Iraq obviously has, the US is using some pretty unorthodox and dare I say 'cruel and unusual' means for getting Iraqi POW's to crack. According to Sergeant Mark Hadsell, US interrogators are using "culturally offensive" music to encourage the captives to talk. What does that mean? Apparently it means putting Metallica's "Enter Sandman" and Drowning Pool's "Bodies" on repeat. They've also reportedly resorted to playing songs by Barney like "I Love You..."

Turn that frown upside down

Reported by ben

Nearly four decades ago, Brian Wilson and The Beach Boys scrapped a great deal of the material destined to be on Smile, the ambitious follow-up to Pet Sounds. While many of the songs later appeared in various forms on other Beach Boys albums, Smile was never released. However, Brian Wilson has announced that in February and March of 2004, he will perform the entire Smile album from start to finish at 10 special UK shows (with some additional songs tacked on at the end so you don't feel ripped off when the set ends early). I'm sure we'll let you know should there be any further dates announced, especially if they're in North America.

Hey, anyone remember Nine Inch Nails? Yeah, it's been awhile. Turns out they're (well, ok, he's) no longer doing the music for Doom III because of time constraints. So now Trent's working full-time on the new NIN album, which I'm guessing we'll see sometime this decade.
