Pitchfork reports that a documentary of The Minutemen is in the works. The DVD, which will be titled We Jam Econo-- The Story of the Minutemen, will include over eighty interviews, never-before-seen live performances, video outtakes,and hundreds of still photos. A surround sound, 5.1 DVD version of Sea change from Beck will be available on December 16th. Aside from having the audio in higher fidelity, the disc will contain 6 music videos, 5 of which have never been seen. Directors on these videos include Spike Jonze and Jason Lee among others. On December 9th, blink-182’s production company will release the DVD Riding in Vans with Boys, an up-close-and-personal look at the band's Pop Disaster Tour. The tour featured blink-182, Green Day, and Jimmy Eat World and the DVD follows around a seemingly unknown opening band, documenting the resulting shenanigans on videotape.
Word on the street is that Blur may be on the verge of a breakup. Last night, in the middle of a three-show London residency, eyewitnesses reported frontman Damon Albarn announced to the crowd: "This is the last time we will be playing any of this stuff, so make the most of it." Maybe we're being hasty and jumping to conclusions, but would anyone really be all that surprised? In related news, Albarn will release Democrazy, a "solo" album of compiled raw demos and unformed song fragments recorded on a 4-track earlier this year during Blur's US tour.
